The ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB) published zone-wise lists on 24 October 2026 of candidates shortlisted for the next stage of Advertisement No. ISRO:ICRB:01(A-JPA):2026, after the Computer Based Test held on 21 September 2026. The skill test is reported for 1 November 2026, with document verification and venues given in each candidate’s own list. This is a shortlist, not a final selection list, and it does not show marks or cut-offs. I have not opened isro.gov.in myself, so the details below are as reported by job portals and need checking against the official lists. The total vacancy count, the format of the skill test and any final merit list are not settled in anything I found.
What has been released
ISRO’s recruitment board has put up separate PDFs by recruitment zone and by post. Karmasandhan, Adda247, Jobsarkariupdate and Helloscholar all report 24 October 2026 as the date. Each PDF lists roll numbers and registration numbers of shortlisted candidates, together with the date, time and venue for document verification and for the skill test, according to Karmasandhan.
Karmasandhan states plainly what the lists are not. They do not carry individual CBT marks, category-wise cut-off marks or a final merit ranking, and appearing in one does not mean final selection. That matters because pages titled ‘ISRO Assistant Result 2026’ invite candidates to expect a score. There is none to find. What you can learn from the list is binary: whether your number appears for your post and zone, and, if it does, where and when to report.
Key dates
| Event | Date (as reported) |
|---|---|
| Notification | 27 July 2026 |
| Application window | 27 July to 16 August 2026, later extended |
| Computer Based Test | 21 September 2026 |
| Response sheet and objection window | 25 to 28 September 2026 |
| Shortlists published | 24 October 2026 |
| Skill test | 1 November 2026 |
| Document verification | As stated in your zone PDF |
The gap between the shortlist and the skill test is eight days. Counting from today, it is seven. By the calendar, 1 November 2026 is a Sunday, so travel on the Saturday is the likely plan for many candidates, and trains will be full a week before Diwali. If your centre is in another city, book now.
How to check your name
The steps reported by Karmasandhan are these.
- Go to isro.gov.in and open the Careers section.
- Open the recruitment advertisement ISRO:ICRB:01(A-JPA):2026.
- Find the notice titled as the list of candidates shortlisted for the skill test.
- Choose your post and your zone.
- Download the PDF and search for your roll number or registration number.
- If you are listed, read the document verification date, the reporting time, the skill test time and the venue.
- Save the PDF.
Use the exact number printed on your CBT admit card or application. A number typed with a missing digit will tell you that you are not shortlisted when you are.
Which PDFs exist
Karmasandhan’s list of PDFs is the fullest I found, and it shows that the lists are not uniform across zones.
| Zone | Posts with a list |
|---|---|
| Ahmedabad | Assistant, Assistant (Autonomous Bodies), Junior Personal Assistant, JPA (Autonomous Bodies) |
| Bengaluru | Assistant, Junior Personal Assistant, Stenographer, Upper Division Clerk |
| Hassan | Assistant, Junior Personal Assistant |
| Hyderabad | Assistant, Junior Personal Assistant |
| Mahendragiri | Assistant, Junior Personal Assistant |
| New Delhi | Assistant |
| Sriharikota | Assistant, Assistant (Autonomous Bodies), Junior Personal Assistant |
| Thiruvananthapuram | Assistant, Assistant (Autonomous Bodies), Junior Personal Assistant |
UDC and Stenographer lists appear only for Bengaluru in that table. Other zones may have had no UDC or Stenographer vacancies, which would explain the pattern, but I cannot confirm that. Adda247’s page shows a shorter set of links than Karmasandhan’s. If you cannot find a PDF for your post and zone on one portal, go to the official page and look there before you decide that your list does not exist.
If your number is not on the list
First check that you searched the right post and the right zone. A candidate who applied for Assistant at Thiruvananthapuram will not be in the Assistant list for Bengaluru. Second, check that the number is correct. Third, look in the PDF with the search function and then by scrolling, because a scanned PDF may not be searchable. If you applied for more than one post, search each list.
If you are still missing, you were most likely not shortlisted. The lists carry no marks, so the result gives you no way to see how close you were. The response sheet window closed on 28 September, according to Karmasandhan, so there is no route to challenge answers now. The reports do not describe any way of getting a scorecard at this stage.
The week ahead
Each PDF gives its own schedule. Do not assume your friend’s reporting time applies to you, because times and venues differ by post and zone. That is the single most common error with zone-wise lists, and the reports say so explicitly.
Before the skill test day, work through this short list. Save the PDF and a screenshot of your row. Note the document verification date separately from the skill test date, since they may not be the same day. Plan your route to the venue and find out how long it takes at the reporting hour. Check whether the PDF asks for any document or item beyond the usual. Keep your admit card or call letter, since the reports do not say what is required and I will not guess.
Documents and the 60 per cent question
The reported eligibility for Assistant and UDC is a graduation with at least 60 per cent marks or a CGPA of 6.32, plus computer proficiency. For Junior Personal Assistant and Stenographer, Jobsarkariupdate reports a graduation or a diploma in commercial or secretarial practice with 60 per cent marks, one year of experience as a steno-typist or stenographer, English stenography at 60 words per minute and computer proficiency.
The figure of 6.32 looks odd until you do the sum. Multiplying 6.32 by 9.5, the multiplier many universities use to convert a ten-point CGPA to a percentage, gives about 60. That suggests the notice is applying that formula, though it does not say so in what I read. It matters because candidates whose universities use another formula, or who hold a CGPA of 6.2 or 6.3, can be on the edge. If your marksheet shows only a CGPA, bring a conversion certificate from your university that states the percentage equivalent, and check the notice for how it treats conversion.
Document verification is where a candidate who applied on the basis of a claimed percentage is tested. A discrepancy between the percentage entered in the form and what the marksheets show can end a candidacy at this stage, however well the CBT went. Check your own papers against your application now.
What the skill test is
Karmasandhan says that Assistant and UDC candidates face a computer literacy skill test, and that JPA and Stenographer candidates face the applicable computer proficiency and stenography assessments. The skill test is described as qualifying in nature, and final selection depends on written examination performance, completion of the skill test and document verification.
The exact content, duration and qualifying standard are not given in the reports I read, so what follows is my suggestion. For Assistant and UDC, expect basic office software tasks and typing accuracy, and practise those on a plain computer under a timer. For JPA and Stenographer, practise dictation and transcription at and above the notified speed, and practise producing a clean transcript on a computer. Whatever the format, read the instructions in your PDF and any call letter, since the schedule there is the only authority.
What a qualifying skill test means for your ranking
If the skill test is only qualifying, the ranking comes from the CBT marks. That has two consequences. You cannot raise your rank in the next eight days, so the sensible aim is to pass the skill test and the document check with no risk. And since no marks or cut-offs are published at this stage, any figure that circulates as a cut-off for the shortlist is a guess. Karmasandhan notes that the lists carry no cut-off, and that is the end of what can be said.
Some candidates will be tempted to read meaning into the order in which numbers appear in a list. The reports say nothing about the order, and I would not infer a ranking from it.
The vacancy count differs by page
Most portals give 242 vacancies, split as about 150 for Assistant and UDC and 92 for JPA and Stenographer. One page gives 244 and calls the figure provisional, and Karmasandhan’s own result page lists 267 in its overview table. The Assistant count itself appears as 111, 113 and 131 on different pages, and one table lists 17 more in autonomous bodies. I cannot reconcile these. The total does not change what you do this week, but if you quote it, take it from the notification and not from a portal.
Pay
The posts are at Level 4 of the pay matrix, and Govt Job Locator reports a starting basic of ₹25,500 per month plus allowances. Take-home pay depends on the allowances in force and the place of posting, which is one of the ISRO zones. Do not rely on an in-hand figure from any page.
Stay on the official site
The PDFs are reported to be hosted on isro.gov.in, under the recruitment notice section for October 2026, and their file names carry the date 24102026. A genuine list will be there. Be careful with pages that ask you to register, enter a mobile number or pay a fee to ‘check your ISRO result’. The reports mention no fee for this stage. Download PDFs from isro.gov.in, or from a link you have typed or checked yourself, and do not enter your date of birth or any password on an unfamiliar site.
Also keep in mind that no one can add your number to a list. Anyone who offers to ‘confirm’ a selection for money is not acting for ISRO.
Mistakes candidates make at the shortlist stage
Three errors repeat in recruitments of this kind. The first is treating the list as a merit list and spending the week worrying about rank. With no marks published, there is nothing to rank yourself against, and the useful work is preparation for the stage in front of you. The second is skimming the PDF for the date and missing the line for document verification, which may be a different day or time from the skill test. The third is turning up with documents arranged in no order, so that the one certificate a verifier asks for takes ten minutes to find.
A fourth, less obvious, mistake is assuming the zone is only a place to take the test. In a zone-wise recruitment, the zone you applied to is generally where the vacancies sit, so being shortlisted there is tied to a posting in that region. The reports do not describe transfer rules or posting policy. If a posting far from home would be a problem, think about that before you travel, not after you have an offer.
Reading the headlines
Pages titled ‘ISRO Assistant Result 2026 Out’ describe the same event as pages titled ‘ISRO ICRB Result 2026’ or ‘ISRO Merit List PDF’. Adda247’s headline even uses the words merit list. The documents themselves are shortlists for the skill test. If a headline promises a merit list, marks or a cut-off, open the official PDF and see for yourself what it contains. Karmasandhan’s description of the PDF contents, with roll number, registration number, post, zone, schedule and venue, is the one that matches how these lists are normally built.
Getting ready for a typing or stenography test
Because the format is not published, the best preparation is general and safe. For any computer-based skill test, practise on a desktop keyboard, not a phone, and get used to a standard word processor and spreadsheet. Work on accuracy first and speed second, since a fast transcript with many errors often scores worse than a slower clean one. If your test involves dictation, practise with recorded dictation at a speed slightly above the notified one, and then type or write out the transcript without looking back at the audio.
Also practise the boring parts: logging in, saving a file in the right place and following written instructions exactly. Candidates sometimes lose marks not on skill but on a step they were told to do and skipped. Bring a calm routine for the morning of the test, including time to reach the venue and settle.
The next seven days
This is my suggestion.
Today: find your PDF, check your number, and save the schedule. If you are listed, book travel and accommodation near the venue, preferably something you can cancel.
Tomorrow and the day after: assemble your documents, check each against your application, and get a CGPA conversion certificate if you need one. Make photocopies of everything you can.
Until the test: practise the skill you will be tested on, in short daily sessions. Do not try anything new on the final day.
The day before: confirm the venue and reporting time from the PDF, and pack the documents in a folder in the order the PDF lists them.
What is not yet known
- The skill test’s format, duration and qualifying standard.
- The date of any final merit list and whether marks will be published.
- The reporting time for each zone, which is in the individual PDFs.
- The exact vacancy count.
- How many candidates were shortlisted per post.
FAQs
Is this the final result? No. It is a shortlist for the skill test and document verification. Final selection depends on the remaining stages.
Where are my marks? The shortlist PDFs do not show CBT marks, cut-offs or ranks, according to Karmasandhan. I found no report of a scorecard at this stage.
My roll number is not in the list. Is there anything I can do? Check that you searched the right post, zone and number, including any other post you applied for. If it is still missing, you were most likely not shortlisted. The objection window closed on 28 September.
Is the skill test on the same day for everyone? The reports give 1 November 2026 as the date, with time and venue in each PDF. Document verification dates are also in the PDF, and may be different.
What if my CGPA is slightly below 6.32? The reported eligibility is 60 per cent or a CGPA of 6.32. Check how the notification converts CGPA, and ask your university for a certificate stating your percentage. If you are below the threshold under the notice’s formula, the notification, not a portal, decides.
