per job-portal reports of BBMB Letter No. 3033/35 dated 23 October 2026: 7 Lineman (ITI trade apprentice) seats at the BBMB Construction Division, Dhulkote, with online applications opening 5 November 2026 and closing 3 December 2026. Pending or unconfirmed: the stipend amount, the age limit, the exact residency rule, and one conflicting closing date (7 December). I could not open the BBMB notice PDF directly, so check the dates against it before you rely on them.
What has been announced
The Addl. Superintending Engineer, Construction Division, BBMB, Dhulkote (Ambala City), issued the notice for the 2026-27 session under the Apprenticeship Act 1961, and the letter sends it to BBMB’s System Software Manager in Chandigarh for publication on bbmb.gov.in. The notice lists a single trade, Lineman, with 7 seats, and BBMB decides the place of training within the Construction Division.
This is an apprenticeship, not a job. The training lasts one year. You would join as a trainee under a registered apprenticeship contract and receive a stipend. You would not be a BBMB employee, and nothing in the sources suggests a guaranteed post at the end.
Dates and the 3 December versus 7 December question
| Event | Reported date |
|---|---|
| Notice date | 23 October 2026 |
| Online applications open | 5 November 2026 |
| Last date to apply | 3 December 2026 |
| Merit list valid until | 28 February 2027 |
One report notes that the advertisement’s first paragraph gives 7 December 2026 as a closing date, while the application window elsewhere ends on 3 December. Another page prints 7 December as the last date. I cannot tell which the BBMB notice treats as final. The practical answer is to finish by 3 December. Missing a deadline over a four-day discrepancy costs you the seat, while applying early costs nothing.
The portal is not open today. Applications start on 5 November, eight days from now, so an apply link you are shown this week is not the working one.
Eligibility
Candidates need a 10th-class pass with at least 40% marks from a recognised board, a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade from NCVT or SCVT, a completed ITI course, and an Aadhaar card, which is compulsory for online registration. The trade here is Lineman, so an Electrician ITI certificate does not qualify you for these seats.
The report lists three groups who cannot apply: candidates whose qualifying results are still awaited on the last date, candidates who finished education and have done or are doing apprenticeship elsewhere under the Act, and those already registered and trained under these schemes. The second rule catches more people than expected. If you completed an apprenticeship at another employer after your ITI, you are out, whatever your marks.
The age limit and reservation follow the Apprenticeship Act 1961, per the reports. The sources do not state a maximum age number, so I am not giving one.
Selection: marks decide, nothing else
There is no written exam and no interview. BBMB builds a merit list from the NAPS/NATS portal database using the percentage of marks in 10th class and ITI, weighted at 30% for 10th and 70% for the ITI trade, out of 100.
A worked illustration shows what that means. Suppose one candidate has 60% in 10th and 80% in ITI. The score is 0.3 × 60 plus 0.7 × 80, which is 18 plus 56, or 74. Another has 85% in 10th and 70% in ITI. That score is 25.5 plus 49, or 74.5. The second candidate edges ahead despite weaker trade marks, but only barely. These numbers are my own example, not anyone’s real result, and the official formula should be taken from the notice.
Ties go to the older candidate, and if birth dates match, to the candidate who passed matriculation earlier. Seats are filled in this order: 25% of seats to residency-certificate holders of the concerned districts, then remaining seats to residents of the state where the grid sub-station is located, then open merit.
One caution on that residency rule. The reports describe it in slightly different words, one mentioning districts and another the state of the grid sub-station. With only 7 seats, 25% works out to under two seats, and I could not see how BBMB rounds. Read the exact clause in the notice. If you hold a residency certificate for the relevant area, apply for the preference. If you do not, expect to compete on the remaining seats.
What “valid up to 28 February 2027” tells you
BBMB says it will issue contracts to Lineman apprentices as and when vacancies arise, using the merit list valid to 28 February 2027. That wording suggests a waiting-list style of intake. Being on the list does not necessarily mean joining in January. Candidates ranked low may wait months or may not be called before the list expires. If you are planning around joining on a specific date, that is a risk worth knowing now.
Salary and stipend
The stipend amount is not in the sources I read. One report says the notice does not specify the stipend and sends candidates to the BBMB website for details. An earlier BBMB apprenticeship drive in 2026 reportedly stated stipend as per NAPS norms, but I cannot confirm the same wording applies to this notice. Do not accept any figure quoted on a job site until you have seen it on bbmb.gov.in.
How to apply
Candidates apply only on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme portal, apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, between 5 November and 3 December 2026, and BBMB accepts no other mode.
- Keep your Aadhaar card, and check that its name and date of birth match your 10th and ITI certificates.
- Register or log in on the NAPS portal once the window opens.
- Find the BBMB Construction Division, Dhulkote Lineman opportunity for 2026-27 and apply.
- Save the confirmation.
Documents to keep ready for verification are the 10th mark sheet, ITI certificate and mark sheets from NCVT or SCVT, a category certificate if applicable, a residence or domicile certificate if applicable, and Aadhaar. Name spelling mismatches across Aadhaar, 10th and ITI documents are a frequent cause of trouble in portal-based systems. Fix them through the issuing board or ITI before you apply, not after.
The application fee is not mentioned in the sources. NAPS-based apprentice applications are generally free, but I have not confirmed that for this notice. Never pay an agent for “registration.”
Other BBMB apprentice notices in 2026
BBMB has run several apprenticeship drives this year, and job sites mix them together. One listing mentions 16 Lineman and Electrician apprentice posts and a separate drive for 6 posts. Another describes 20 seats at Jamalpur, Ludhiana, across Lineman, Electrician and Gardner. A fourth reports 4 Trade Apprentice Lineman posts with applications from 1 to 30 July 2026. The vacancy counts, locations and deadlines differ between them, and several are already closed. I also saw a banner on one page mentioning a 9-seat Delhi drive ending 14 November, which I could not verify against any notice.
The point: “7 posts” belongs to Dhulkote only. A page saying 16 or 20 is describing a different, earlier drive.
Previous cut-off
None exists for this notice, and I found no published merit-list marks from earlier BBMB drives. With no exam, a cut-off here would simply be the lowest weighted score among those who got seats, and it depends on how many apply. I will not guess one.
Should you apply
If you hold a Lineman ITI certificate with good marks and are comfortable training in Ambala for a year, yes. Weigh the following before you do. The stipend is unknown. Joining depends on when vacancies arise within the merit-list validity. And the training place is fixed by BBMB, with requests for a specific place generally not entertained, according to one report. If you need a salaried post with job security, an apprenticeship will not provide it.

FAQs
Is there an exam for the BBMB Dhulkote Lineman apprentice posts?
No. Selection is a merit list built from 10th marks (30%) and ITI marks (70%), per the reports, with no interview.
The last date shows as both 3 December and 7 December. Which should I follow?
Treat 3 December as the deadline. One report says the advertisement’s first paragraph gives 7 December, but I cannot confirm which BBMB treats as final.
I did an apprenticeship at a private company after my ITI. Can I apply?
Per the report, no. Candidates who have completed or are doing apprenticeship elsewhere under the Act are excluded.
Does the 25% local preference mean I need a Haryana domicile?
The reports describe it as residency-certificate holders of the concerned districts, then of the state where the grid sub-station sits. Read the exact wording in the notice before assuming either.
Will I get a BBMB job after the year?
The sources say nothing about regular employment after training, and an apprenticeship contract does not by itself create a post.
