BDL Apprentice Recruitment 2026: 180 Vacancies, Result and Merit List Update OPEN

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Kanchanbagh Unit, Hyderabad, issued two apprentice notifications this year, one for 33 Trade (ITI) seats and one for 147 Graduate and Diploma seats, and registration for both has closed. Still pending: I found no merit list, selection result or new BDL apprentice notification dated after those two, so I can’t give a result date or a cut-off.

If you searched this topic today expecting an open form, the honest answer is that there isn’t one at the moment. Some websites still show “apply now” banners on the July notice, but its last date was 6 August 2026. This article sets out what BDL actually announced, what the rules were, and how to be ready for the next notice, which BDL has tended to issue more than once a year.

The trade notice is the only one of the two that I could open on BDL’s own website. The Graduate and Diploma details below come from job portals reporting the BDL notification, so check them against the PDF at bdl-india.in/apprentice-connect.

Vacancy details

Trade seats (official notice): Fitter 3, Electronics Mechanic 8, Machinist 7, Machinist Grinder 2, Mechanic Diesel 1, Mechanic R and AC 4, Turner 6 and Welder 2, which adds up to 33.

Graduate and Diploma seats (as reported):

Subject field B.E./B.Tech seats Diploma seats
Civil Engineering 2 1
Electrical and Electronics 6 2
Electronics and Communication 43 6
Mechanical Engineering 69 13
Computer Science / IT 2 1
Diploma in Computers and Commercial Practice not applicable 2

Category-wise vacancy was not given in the sources I read. The trade notice says reservations for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, CAP and EWS apply as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Education qualification

For the trade drive you needed a 10th/SSC pass plus an ITI pass in the trade you applied for. For the Graduate drive you needed a B.E./B.Tech, and for the Diploma drive a diploma, in the specified subject field, and in both cases the pass year had to be 2022 or later, as reported. That cut-off matters. A 2020 or 2021 pass-out was ruled out however good the marks were.

One more rule from the official trade notice: engineering graduates and diploma holders could not apply under it, because they come under a separate scheme.

Age limit

The official trade notice allowed 14 to 30 years as on 1 June 2026 for General candidates. Relaxation was 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for General PwD, 13 years for OBC PwD and 15 years for SC/ST PwD.

For the Graduate and Diploma drive, I could not confirm an age limit. One portal says BDL did not specify one. Another gives 21 to 45 years, but it doesn’t match the other reports, so I’m not relying on it.

Application fee

The trade notice mentions no application fee. The Graduate and Diploma summaries I read mention none either, and one portal states there is no fee.

Stipend (what “salary” means for an apprentice)

Graduate apprentices were reported to get ₹12,300 a month and Diploma apprentices ₹10,900, with half paid by BDL and half by the Board of Apprenticeship through direct benefit transfer. The trade notice says only that stipend is paid “as per extant instructions”, with no figure, so I won’t quote one. Training for the trade drive is one year, per the official notice. I did not find the training period for the Graduate and Diploma drive in the summaries.

Selection process

For the trade drive, the official notice describes a merit list, drawn up trade by trade, with equal weight to the 10th/SSC marks and the ITI marks. No written exam or interview is mentioned. Selected candidates must pass a medical examination before training starts, and BDL can reject a candidature at any stage.

For the Graduate and Diploma drive, the summaries I read do not describe the selection stage. One portal lists “interview”, but I could not confirm it, so check the PDF.

Exam pattern and syllabus: there is no written test in the trade selection described above, so there is nothing to study for it.

How registration worked

Trade apprentices registered at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, searched for Bharat Dynamics Limited, Kanchanbagh, Hyderabad under Apprenticeship Opportunities (registration number E05203600393, as printed in the notice), and also posted hard copies to the Manager (HR) Apprentice Cell. Aadhaar number, name and date of birth had to match the 10th certificate, and the marks lists had to be uploaded in colour.

Graduate and Diploma candidates registered on the NATS portal, and reports say they then emailed a resume with their enrollment ID to hrkbu-app@bdl-india.in. The same reports give a phone number for queries, 040-24587917. Both are as reported from the notice, so confirm them in the PDF before using them.

Documents

For the trade drive: scanned colour copies of the 10th/SSC certificate and marks list, the ITI marks list and any caste certificate, plus a recent photo and the hard-copy set. For the Graduate and Diploma drive: SSC certificate, degree or diploma certificate and marksheets, category and PwBD certificates if relevant, and the resume with the NATS enrollment ID. In both cases original certificates are produced when BDL asks.

Job profile

Apprentices are trainees at BDL’s Kanchanbagh unit, which makes missiles and related defence equipment. BDL has made clear that this is training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and not a job offer or an appointment.

Cut-off and previous year cut-off

No cut-off or merit list for these two drives appears in anything I could find. Because trade selection is by percentage, any “expected cut-off” figure on a website right now is a guess. I also found no published cut-off for earlier BDL apprentice drives, so I won’t give one.

Three points other guides skip

First, the official trade notice contradicts itself on dates. The header gives 8 June 2026 as the last date for hard copies, but a later clause says the hard copy must reach BDL by 1 June. Candidates relying on the later date lost nothing, and those relying on 8 June may have lost everything. When a notice gives two dates, work to the earlier one.

Second, the two drives use different portals. Trade goes through apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, and Graduate and Diploma go through NATS. A diploma holder who registers on the wrong one never reaches BDL’s list.

Third, don’t treat a “BDL apprentice” site as official. Real notices appear at bdl-india.in/apprentice-connect, and the trade notice says there is no other mode of communication. Nobody at BDL needs a payment from you.

What to do now

Keep your 10th, ITI or degree marksheets, Aadhaar and category certificate scanned and in colour. Make sure your Aadhaar name and date of birth match your 10th certificate. Register on both portals ahead of time, so you are ready when the next notice is published, and check bdl-india.in/apprentice-connect regularly.

FAQs

I passed my B.E. in 2021. Could I have applied?
Not under the reported rule, which asked for a 2022 or later pass in the specified subject field. This matters for the next notice too, so check the pass-year line first.

I have an ITI and a diploma. Which drive was mine?
The trade notice says engineering graduates and diploma holders could not apply under it, since they are covered by a separate scheme. A diploma holder belonged to the Graduate and Diploma drive.

Is there a written exam for BDL apprentices?
Not in the trade selection described in the official notice, which uses 10th and ITI marks in equal weight. For the Graduate and Diploma drive, the stage is not described in the summaries I read.

Does an apprenticeship at BDL lead to a job?
No. The notices describe training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and not an appointment.
