BARC RMC Recruitment 2026: 4 Scientific Assistant & Technician Posts, Walk-In Interview Date, Eligibility & Salary

the Radiation Medicine Centre (RMC) of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre has announced a walk-in interview for 4 temporary posts, to be held on 5 November 2026 at BARC Hospital, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai. Still pending: a category-wise vacancy breakdown (the advertisement reportedly gives none), any result, and any further BARC notice. I found no other BARC notice open for applications today.

The advertisement is reported by Karmasandhan as BARC RMC’s walk-in notice (file name vacancy24.pdf, on barc.gov.in). I have not opened the PDF itself, so every detail below is attributed to that report.

Which BARC recruitment is actually open

“BARC Recruitment 2026” is a search term that returns several different notices, most of them closed. The one open today is small. The RMC, Medical Group, will fill four posts on a locum or ad hoc basis: two Scientific Assistant/B posts and two Technician/B (Animal House Attendant) posts. It is a walk-in process, not an online application.

The rest of this year’s notices, as I found them:

Notice Posts Application window
OCES/DGFS-2026 (Scientific Officer, Grade A) Not stated in sources I read 22 Dec 2025 to 21 Jan 2026
Medical Scientific Officer and Technical Officer 21 30 Jan to 9 Mar 2026
Junior Research Fellowships, Advt. 4/2026 (R-V) About 105 10 to 31 Mar 2026
Scientific Assistant (para-medical), Advt. 06/2026 (R-I) 6 17 Jul to 18 Aug 2026
RMC walk-in, Scientific Assistant/B and Technician/B 4 Walk-in on 5 Nov 2026

The sources behind the closed rows: the OCES/DGFS-2026 portal opened on 22 December 2025 and closed on 21 January 2026, with an online exam on 14 and 15 March and training from 31 July 2026. The medical Scientific Officer and Technical Officer notice, for 21 posts, ran from 30 January to 9 March 2026. The JRF notice, for about 105 fellowships, ran from 10 to 31 March. The para-medical Scientific Assistant notice ran from 17 July to 18 August on recruit.barc.gov.in.

If you applied to any of those, I did not find results or interview lists, and I won’t guess at them. Watch barc.gov.in.

One caution about reposts. A large Stipendiary Trainee, Technician and Scientific Assistant notice circulates under “BARC Recruitment” headings. That notice dates from April 2023 and listed 4,374 vacancies, yet one aggregator page labels it “2026” in its text. I found no 2026 mass notice of that kind. If a page promises thousands of BARC posts today, check the advertisement number and date on barc.gov.in.

Important dates

The interview is on Thursday, 5 November 2026 at 2:00 PM. Application forms are handed out between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM, and completed forms must be submitted before 12:45 PM. The age cut-off date is 30 June 2026.

Event Date and time
Walk-in interview 5 Nov 2026, 2:00 PM
Application form distribution 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM
Last time for submission Before 12:45 PM
Age counted as on 30 June 2026

There are nine days from today. Forms will not be distributed after 12:30 PM, and no completed form is accepted after 12:45 PM. A missed window can’t be fixed on the day.

Vacancies

The four posts are Scientific Assistant/B (Chemistry/Radiopharmacy) 1, Scientific Assistant/B (Biological Science) 1, and Technician/B (Animal House Attendant) 2. The advertisement reportedly gives no category-wise reservation breakup. With a post as small as one vacancy, any reservation question is best settled by reading the notice itself.

Eligibility, post by post

For the Chemistry/Radiopharmacy post, candidates need a B.Sc. in Chemistry, or a B.Sc. with Chemistry as one subject, with at least 60 percent marks. Experience in a radiopharmacy laboratory and handling radioisotopes gets preference but is not mandatory.

For the Biological Science post, candidates need a B.Sc. in Biological Science with at least 60 percent and at least one year of experience in a BSL-3 laboratory, which is mandatory. That experience requirement is the real filter. A strong B.Sc. result without BSL-3 time doesn’t qualify you.

For Technician/B (Animal House Attendant), candidates need SSC with at least 60 percent, or HSC with at least 60 percent aggregate with Science and Mathematics, plus a one-year trade certificate. Experience in an animal house facility is preferred, and the advertisement sets no minimum years.

Age limit

The maximum age is 50 years as on 30 June 2026. No minimum age is specified, and no separate age relaxation is stated. In plain terms, anyone born on or before 30 June 1976 is out on age. That is my arithmetic from the stated rule. The reported absence of category relaxation is unusual for a central government post, so confirm it in the PDF if you are counting on relaxation.

Application fee

The advertisement mentions no application fee. Don’t pay anyone, and treat any payment request as a warning sign.

Salary and what “locum” means

The advertised emoluments are ₹19,502 a month plus admissible dearness allowance for Scientific Assistant/B and ₹11,730 plus DA for Technician/B, stated as pre-revised emoluments.

Don’t compare these with a regular BARC pay level. The regular para-medical Scientific Assistant notice from July reportedly offered ₹35,400 to ₹44,900 a month depending on the post level. That is a permanent, pay-matrix post, and this is not.

The appointments are temporary. They run for no more than 89 days at a time, for a maximum of two terms, and the advertisement doesn’t guarantee an extension or a regular post. By my arithmetic, two terms of 89 days come to at most 178 days, under six months. Treat this as short-term experience, not a career entry.

Job profile

For Chemistry/Radiopharmacy, duties reportedly include preparing radiopharmaceuticals under supervision, quality control and quality assurance work, daily QC chart data entry and inventory records. The advertisement gives no detailed duty list for the Biological Science post.

For Animal House Attendant, duties include feeding and cleaning, autoclaving cages, keeping records, assisting experiments, and restraining animals for the administration of radioisotopes, drugs or radiopharmaceuticals. The work involves radioactive materials, which is why the next point matters. The advertisement reportedly states that pregnant women are not allowed to work in the radiopharmacy laboratory.

Selection process

Selection is by walk-in interview. The advertisement does not mention a written examination, interview marks or a scoring formula. If too many candidates arrive, a screening step applies first.

For Chemistry/Radiopharmacy, if more than 15 experienced candidates attend, 15 go to interview in order of: radiopharmacy lab experience with the highest B.Sc. percentage; radioisotope-handling experience with the highest percentage; then the highest percentage. For Biological Science, if more than 15 attend, shortlisting is by highest B.Sc. (final) percentage and relevant experience. For Technician/B, if more than 10 attend, shortlisting is by highest SSC percentage.

There are two points a general summary tends to miss. First, for the Chemistry post, the order puts experience ahead of marks. A candidate with 62 percent and radiopharmacy experience would rank ahead of one with 80 percent and none. That reading follows from the listed order. Second, the Biological Science line says “B.Sc. (final)”. The advertisement may mean the final-year or the aggregate percentage, so check which one applies before you pick a marksheet to highlight.

Exam pattern, syllabus and cut-off

There is no written exam, so there is no exam pattern or syllabus and no cut-off in the usual sense. The only threshold is the screening limit above (15, 15 and 10), which applies if attendance is high. I found no earlier BARC walk-in outcome to compare against, so I won’t offer a “previous year cut-off”.

How to apply on the day

No advance online application is mentioned. Candidates attend directly with documents. The venue is Conference Room No. 1, Ground Floor, behind BARC Hospital Library, BARC Hospital, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai 400094.

  1. Check your post’s qualification, age and experience requirements.
  2. Reach the venue before 12:00 PM, since forms go out only from 12:00 to 12:30 PM.
  3. Collect and fill in the application form carefully.
  4. Attach photocopies and a photograph, and submit before 12:45 PM.
  5. Attend the interview at 2:00 PM, subject to screening.

Carry original certificates, one set of attested photocopies and a recent passport-size photograph. The reported list includes:

  • Class 10 and Class 12 certificates, and the degree certificate where applicable
  • Year-wise marksheets, plus a degree passing or convocation proof
  • The one-year trade certificate (Technician/B)
  • Experience certificates, where applicable
  • Proof of date of birth

Selected candidates must later obtain a medical certificate from a registered practitioner and a police verification certificate. Start on those now if you can. They are not needed on 5 November, but they will be needed to join.

Mistakes to avoid

Reaching Anushaktinagar at noon is a mistake. The funnel is 45 minutes long, and a queue for forms can eat half of it. Arrive early with the photocopies already attested, because there may be no time to arrange them.

Experience certificates are the second risk. If a document does not state the laboratory, the duration and the role, you will struggle to show a BSL-3 year or radiopharmacy work. Ask the issuing office for a clearer certificate this week.

Third, don’t rely on a portal’s “apply online” button for this vacancy. The notice describes a walk-in. The only official source is barc.gov.in.
