per job-portal reports of AVNL’s notices under Advertisement No. AVNL/CO/HR/2026/06: shortlists for Executive interviews and for the Junior Technician trade test are published on avnl.co.in. Still pending: the Executive interview date, time and venue, any published cut-off marks, and any final selection list. I could not open the AVNL PDFs myself, so verify every figure below against the official notices.
What has been released
This is a shortlist, not a final result, and that difference matters more than anything else in this article. AVNL, a Government of India enterprise, has published lists of candidates shortlisted for the next stages of the recruitment, with Executive candidates going to interviews and Junior Technician candidates going to a trade test. Some aggregator headlines call the documents a “merit list.” Being named in them means you move forward. It does not mean you have been selected or given a post.
One report puts the release date at 28 October 2026 and describes it as a reported update. I could not tie the date to the PDFs themselves, so I am treating it as reported, not confirmed.
Background: how this recruitment got here
The advertisement is AVNL/CO/HR/2026/06, covering 1,213 posts. One report splits that into 1,005 non-executive posts and 208 executive posts. Several sources describe the engagement as fixed-term employment, and I come back to that below because it changes what a “job” here means.
The timeline, as reported by third-party sites:
| Stage | Reported date |
|---|---|
| Notification | 1 July 2026 |
| Online applications | 11 to 25 July 2026 |
| Executive CBT | 10 September 2026 |
| Answer key | 12 September 2026 |
| Objection window closed | 14 September 2026 |
| Shortlists published | 28 October 2026 |
| Junior Technician trade test | 31 October and 1 November 2026 |
The 25 July closing date appears in several reports. One page lists 6 July as a last date, which does not match the others, and I am treating it as stale. The answer key date and the objection deadline come from a CareerPower report.
The Executive shortlist
The Executive notice covers 18 posts for which the computer-based test was conducted on 10 September 2026. The posts are Junior Manager in Electrical, Electronics, Human Resources, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Official Language, Artificial Intelligence, and Finance & Accounts. Assistant Manager appears in Finance, Civil and Company Secretary. Deputy Manager appears in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Information Technology, Marketing, Public Relations and Corporate Communication, and Artificial Intelligence.
The interview has no date yet. The notice says the date, time and venue will be announced separately on the AVNL website. If you see a specific date on a social post, it did not come from this notice.
The Junior Technician shortlist and trade test
This stage has a deadline attached. The trade test is reported for 31 October (Saturday) and 1 November 2026 (Sunday) in Chennai only, and a call letter download link is part of the official non-executive shortlist notice. Today is 28 October, so a shortlisted candidate has three days.
The 13 trades covered are Electrician, Electronic Mechanic, Foundryman, Mechanic Machine Tool Maintenance, OMHE at Raw Material Handling Plant, Quality Assurance Assistant, Welder, Machinist, Fitter General, Electroplater, Forger and Heat Treater, Painter (General) and Rigger. The sources I read do not describe how the Junior Technician shortlist was produced, or what the trade test format and marks are, so I am not describing either.
If you are shortlisted and live outside Tamil Nadu, the first job is travel. A weekend date means rail berths and cheap flights go quickly, and the call letter fixes which day you attend but does not arrange your journey. Open the call letter, read the reporting time and venue address, and print two copies. Candidates who rely on a screenshot sent by a friend sometimes find the venue or reporting time on it belongs to a different trade.
How to check your name
The reports describe a two-layer structure. AVNL published separate summary PDFs for Executive and Non-Executive posts, and each summary links to post-wise lists of shortlisted candidates. A candidate who opens the summary, finds no roll number, and closes the page has checked nothing. You must click your own post or trade name and search inside that list.
- Go to avnl.co.in and open the Careers/Vacancies page.
- Find the notice under Advertisement No. AVNL/CO/HR/2026/06.
- Open the Executive summary or the Non-Executive summary.
- Click your post or trade to open its list.
- Search for your registration or roll number, and save the PDF.
Verification-safety tip
The Junior Technician call letter in these reports is hosted on an exam-service portal, digialm.com, and not on avnl.co.in. That is a common arrangement when a PSU outsources its test platform, but it is also the place where fake lookalike pages show up. Reach the call letter through the link on the official AVNL notice rather than a forwarded link, and never pay anyone for “call letter access” or “trade test preparation seats.” AVNL does not charge shortlisted candidates to release a call letter, and no one can arrange selection for money.
Cut-off and marks
I found no official cut-off marks for this round. One result-tracking page stated that the cut-off had not been released. Shortlist PDFs of this type normally show names or numbers, not marks, so you may never see a cut-off. Any “expected AVNL cut-off” you read is an estimate by someone who has not seen the data, and I am not publishing one.
If you want a rough sense of your own performance, the answer key is the only source. The Executive answer key was released on 12 September with objections open until 14 September. The objection window is closed, so you can no longer contest a question. You can still compare your response sheet against the key to estimate your raw score, though without a published cut-off, that number will tell you little about whether you were shortlisted.
Salary: the reports disagree
The advertised pay is post-wise, and the sources do not agree on its range. Several reports give Rs. 25,050 to Rs. 1,29,000 plus Industrial Dearness Allowance. One page gives a basic range of Rs. 21,000 to Rs. 1,20,000 plus IDA and allowances. The gap probably reflects different readings of the pay table, but I cannot say which is right. Until you have read the pay table in the notification PDF for your own post, treat any single range as unverified, especially for Executive posts.
The fixed-term point
This is worth a closer look than most coverage gives it. One report classifies the notification as fixed-term employment, covering Non-Executive Junior Technician posts through Executive posts up to Consultant. A fixed-term engagement is different from a regular post with a permanent service condition. The length of the term, the renewal rules, and any conditions on conversion are in the notification, and the sources I read do not give them. Before you put your own career on a result, find those clauses and read them yourself. If the notice says one thing about renewal and a job site says another, believe the notice.
What a shortlist does and does not mean
The reports say being shortlisted for an interview or trade test does not mean final selection or appointment, and that remaining formalities follow AVNL’s instructions. The number of people called per post is not in the sources I read, so I cannot give you odds. As a general feature of shortlists, the pool exceeds vacancies, because the later stage exists to narrow it.
For Executive posts, competition at the interview is within your own post. A candidate shortlisted for Deputy Manager (Marketing) is not competing against Junior Manager (Metallurgy). Prepare for your own post’s work.
What to prepare, stage by stage
Trade test, 31 October or 1 November. The format is not described in the sources, so base your revision on what your trade’s work involves. A welder, fitter or machinist should expect hands-on assessment, but that is my inference from the nature of these trades, not something AVNL stated. Bring the printed call letter, a photo ID, and whatever documents the call letter lists. If the call letter names tools or certificates, follow it exactly.
Executive interview, date not announced. Start collecting originals now: degree and mark sheets, experience letters if the post required experience, and category or PwBD certificates where applicable. Public-sector interviews usually give some days’ notice, though that is a general pattern and not stated for this notice. Be ready to explain your discipline’s connection to defence manufacturing, because AVNL is a Ministry of Defence enterprise.
Document verification. Several reports list it as a later stage. The notice defines which documents count, so mismatched names, dates of birth or category details between certificates and your application can cause trouble. Fix those discrepancies before you are called, not after.
Common mistakes
Checking the summary PDF only, and not the post-wise list, is the most frequent one. The second is searching under the wrong trade or the wrong post name. Executive titles in the shortlist look alike, so a Junior Manager (Electrical) candidate scanning the Deputy Manager (Electrical) list will find nothing. The third is treating the trade test as optional preparation time: with a Saturday and Sunday schedule and a single city, a missed train is a missed stage.

FAQs
The summary PDF shows no candidate names. Is something wrong?
No. The reports say the summary links to post-wise lists. Click your own post or trade to open the list that holds candidate details.
Is the Executive interview date announced?
No. The notice says the date, time and venue will be announced separately on the AVNL website, so check avnl.co.in rather than social media.
Does being on the Junior Technician list mean I am selected?
No. It means you are called for the trade test on 31 October or 1 November in Chennai. The sources do not say what weight the trade test carries in the final result.
Can I still object to the CBT answer key?
No. The reported objection window for the Executive answer key ran until 14 September 2026.
Are these permanent posts?
Several reports describe the engagement as fixed-term. Check the notification PDF for the term length and renewal conditions before assuming otherwise.
