from several portal reports of the Border Security Force notice: the Head Constable (Radio Operator) and Head Constable (Radio Mechanic) computer-based test was held on 2 November 2026 in two shifts. We found no official answer key yet. Portals expect it about 3 to 4 days after the exam, through the candidate login on rectt.bsf.gov.in, but BSF has not published a date in anything we could verify. Still pending: the provisional key, the objection window, the final key and the result.
Is the BSF HC RO/RM answer key out?
Not officially, as far as we can tell. One site, helloscholar, headlines its 3 November post as a released key. The post itself undercuts that. Its answer-key link is marked “soon”, its table gives 4 November 2026 as the release date (tomorrow, from the post’s own date), and its “notice” is a Google Drive file, not a BSF page. The same post is built on a template for the 2025 recruitment, which is why it has the wrong year in several headings.
Other reports are more careful. They say candidates can view responses and the key about 3 to 4 days after the exam by logging in, and that the exact dates will be posted by BSF. One portal states plainly that the window is expected, not confirmed.
Treat any key you have seen so far as unofficial.
Quick facts
| Detail | As reported |
|---|---|
| Organisation | Directorate General, Border Security Force |
| Recruitment | Communication Setup Recruitment 2025 |
| Posts | Head Constable (Radio Operator) 910; Head Constable (Radio Mechanic) 211; total 1,121 |
| Notification | 18 August 2025 |
| Applications | 24 August to 23 September 2025 |
| Physical tests (PST/PET) | December 2025 to February 2026 |
| PST/PET result | 25 or 26 May 2026 (sources differ) |
| CBT admit card | 22 October 2026 (one portal says 21 October) |
| CBT | 2 November 2026; RO shift 1 (9 to 11 AM), RM shift 2 (about 1 to 3 PM) |
| Official website | rectt.bsf.gov.in |
The two disagreements in the table are small, but they show how much copying goes on among portals. The admit-card date and the physical-result date vary by a day depending on the page.
How BSF has released keys this year
BSF ran another recruitment cycle in September 2026, and several portals describe how it handled the key. For the Head Constable (Ministerial) and ASI (Stenographer) exams held on 1 to 3 September, BSF opened an Objection Management Portal on 10 September. Candidates logged in with their registration or roll number and date of birth, viewed their own question paper and response sheet, and saw the provisional key. The objection window was reported as 10 to 12 September, three days. A separate round followed on 21 September, with objections until 23 September.
The reports for the RO/RM exam say the same mechanism applies: the key and response sheet are viewed by login, and objections are filed within three days of the portal opening.
That has a practical consequence. If the key is shown only after you log in, then a public “BSF HC RO RM answer key PDF” is not the official document. It may be an accurate coaching-institute key, but it is not BSF’s. Don’t pay for an “official key” and don’t enter your login details on any site other than rectt.bsf.gov.in.
Expected timeline
Everything after the exam date below is our estimate from the 3 to 4 day window the portals report. Nothing is confirmed.
| Step | Date |
|---|---|
| CBT | 2 November 2026 (confirmed) |
| Provisional key and response sheet on login | About 5 to 6 November (estimated) |
| Objection window | Three days from opening, so roughly 5 to 8 November (estimated) |
| Final key and result | Not announced |
If the portal opens on 5 November, three days takes you to 7 November. If it opens on 6 November, the window closes on 8 November. If BSF shortens or lengthens the window, these dates move. Check the portal daily from 5 November.
Exam pattern and marks
The reported pattern for the CBT:
| Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | 40 | 80 |
| Mathematics | 20 | 40 |
| Chemistry | 20 | 40 |
| English and General Knowledge | 20 | 40 |
| Total | 100 | 200 |
The duration is 2 hours. Each wrong answer carries negative marking of 0.25 marks, reported as one eighth. The paper is in English and Hindi.
A few things follow from the numbers. Every question is worth 2 marks, since 200 marks divided by 100 questions is 2. The 0.25 penalty is exactly one eighth of that, which matches the report. Physics is 40 percent of the paper, and the other three subjects are 20 percent each. A candidate weak in physics can’t make it up elsewhere, because even a perfect score in the other three subjects gives only 120 out of 200.
On guessing: the number of options per question isn’t stated in what we found. If there are four, a blind guess is worth about +0.31 marks on average (a one in four chance of 2 marks, against a three in four chance of losing 0.25). That is a hypothetical based on an assumption about options, not a recommendation, and the exam is over.
Vacancies and eligibility recap
The 1,121 posts split into 910 Radio Operator and 211 Radio Mechanic, about 81 percent and 19 percent. The reported qualification for both posts is Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 60 percent, or Class 10 with ITI in a related trade. The reported age is 18 to 25 as on 23 September 2025. The application fee was reported as Rs. 100 for General, OBC and EWS and nil for SC, ST and PwBD. That fee comes from one portal. Eligibility is not the issue now, since the application stage closed in September 2025.
Selection stages after the CBT
The process, as reported, runs in phases:
- Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test, which were qualifying and are complete.
- The CBT on 2 November, the stage this answer key covers.
- For Radio Operator candidates, a dictation test of 50 marks and a paragraph reading test.
- Document verification.
- Medical examination.
A separate merit list is reportedly prepared for HC (RO) and HC (RM) for the third phase. Candidature is purely provisional until the process is complete. The reports don’t spell out how the CBT marks combine with the dictation test marks, or what the qualifying marks are. That is in the notification.
How to estimate your score when the key arrives
When the provisional key and your response sheet are available on login, calculate:
Score = 2 x (correct answers) minus 0.25 x (wrong answers). Unattempted questions score zero.
Two examples (our arithmetic):
- 80 correct, 15 wrong, 5 unattempted: 160 minus 3.75 = 156.25 out of 200.
- 70 correct, 30 wrong: 140 minus 7.5 = 132.5 out of 200.
Work subject by subject as well. If physics is 40 percent of the paper, a shortfall there matters more than in any other section. Check the answer for each question against your own response sheet, not against a key written for someone else’s question order. In CBTs, question and option order can differ between candidates, so a key built from one candidate’s memory may not line up with yours.
Filing objections
The objection process, as reported for BSF’s earlier exams, is online through the Objection Management Portal. Reports say objections must be filed within three days of the portal opening and be backed by evidence. We could not find whether a fee applies to this recruitment. Check the portal’s instructions.
A workable approach:
- Note down questions you think are wrong while the response sheet is on screen.
- Find a printed source for each: a textbook page, an NCERT reference or an official document.
- Object only where you have that source. An answer that you are sure about, without evidence, rarely changes a key.
- Keep screenshots of your response sheet in case the portal is slow near the deadline.
Cut-off and result
No cut-off or result has been announced for the CBT, and we did not find previous-year cut-offs for RO/RM in sources we could verify. We don’t quote any. A cut-off for this recruitment will depend on the number of candidates who qualified in the physical tests and on category-wise vacancies, and it will not exist until the result is out. The PST/PET result in May 2026 decided who sat the CBT.
Verification and safety
BSF’s official site for this recruitment is rectt.bsf.gov.in. Three habits protect you:
- Log in only on rectt.bsf.gov.in. No other site needs your roll number and date of birth.
- Be suspicious of any page that says the key is “released” but sends you to a file-sharing link or to a Telegram group.
- Be cautious about memory-based or “leaked” keys. They are estimates.
Some portals also post the 2 November question paper with answers. Those are unofficial too.
What happens next
After the objection window, BSF reviews the objections, publishes the final key and declares the CBT result. Radio Operator candidates then move to the dictation and paragraph reading test, and both posts go on to document verification and medical examination. None of those dates has been announced.

FAQs
Is the BSF HC RO/RM answer key out? Not officially as of 3 November. One site says it is, but its own key link is marked “soon” and its notice is on Google Drive. Portals expect the official key about 3 to 4 days after the exam, through candidate login.
Where will I find the official key? On rectt.bsf.gov.in, through the Objection Management Portal, after logging in with your roll number and date of birth. That is how BSF handled its September 2026 exams.
How long will I have to object? Reports say three days from when the portal opens. That would be roughly 5 to 8 November, but the dates are our estimate.
How is the score calculated? Two marks per correct answer and minus 0.25 per wrong answer, out of 200. Physics is 80 marks, Mathematics, Chemistry and English and GK are 40 each.
Do RO and RM candidates have separate keys? They sat in different shifts, with RO in shift 1 and RM in shift 2, so check the key and your response sheet for your own post and shift.
