Electrician and Fitter together make up almost one-third of all ITI vacancies, making them the two biggest openings this year. If you hold an ITI in either trade, your chances of finding a seat are comparatively higher simply due to volume.

4. Who Can Apply — Eligibility Conditions

This notification has some strict eligibility rules that are different from a normal job notice — read these carefully, since even a technically qualified candidate can get rejected if any one of these conditions is not met:

  • Only candidates who completed their qualifying exam as regular students can apply — private or correspondence-mode candidates are not eligible.
  • You must have passed your qualifying exam in one of the last five years: 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026. Older pass-outs are not eligible, even if otherwise qualified.
  • If you have appeared for your final exam but your result is not yet declared as on the last date of application, you are NOT eligible — a provisional or “result awaited” status will not work here.
  • If you have already done one full year or more of apprenticeship or job experience anywhere (under any establishment), you are NOT eligible to apply again. This scheme is meant for genuinely fresh candidates.

5. Age Limit (as on 31 October 2026)

Minimum Age 18 years
Maximum Age 28 years

Reservation and age relaxation will be given as per the Government of Chhattisgarh guidelines. Since BSP is based in Chhattisgarh, state-level reservation rules apply here, which can be a little different from central government reservation norms — check the official PDF for your exact relaxation if you belong to a reserved category.

6. Monthly Stipend

Apprentice Type Stipend Per Month
Trade Apprentice (ITI) ₹9,600 (or as per MSDE, Govt. of India rates)
Diploma Apprentice ₹10,900
Graduate Apprentice ₹12,300

For Graduate and Diploma Apprentices, this stipend is split 50-50: half is paid directly by Bhilai Steel Plant, and the other half comes from the Board of Practical Training (BOPT) through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) mode into your bank account. This is why your bank account must be DBT-enabled with completed KYC before you apply — otherwise your stipend payment can get delayed or blocked.

7. Before You Start — Registration Requirements

  • You need an active personal email ID and mobile number that will stay valid for at least the next one full year — all official communication happens only through email, so don’t use a temporary or shared ID.
  • Double-check every detail before final submission — once submitted, corrections are difficult or may not be possible at all.
  • Your bank account must be DBT-enabled with KYC completed — this is essential since your stipend is credited through Direct Benefit Transfer.
  • You are personally and fully responsible for the correctness of every detail you enter online — any wrong entry is your responsibility, not the organisation’s.
  • After successful registration, always take a printout of your filled application — you will need it for reference and at the walk-in stage.

9. Walk-in Schedule — Trade-Wise Dates

Reporting Time (all dates): 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM
Walk-in Venue: Room No 123, HRDC Bhilai Steel Plant, Chhattisgarh 490001

⚠ Note the “Except” Dates Carefully: A few date ranges skip one day in between (for example, 01.11.2026 and 08.11.2026 are excluded). Mark your calendar carefully, since reporting on a skipped date by mistake could mean you miss your actual slot.

10. Documents to Carry at the Walk-in

  • Self-attested copy of your Matriculation Certificate (for date of birth verification)
  • Self-attested copy of your Provisional Pass Certificate
  • Self-attested copy of your SC/ST/OBC/PH Certificate, if applicable
  • Self-attested copy of your Aadhaar Card or Bank Passbook — e-KYC validation is mandatory
  • Medical Fitness Certificate from a Government Hospital
  • Your Apprentice Registration copy from the NAPS/NATS portal — printed proof of your online registration

Carrying originals along with self-attested photocopies is always a safe practice, even if only photocopies are formally asked for — officials may want to verify against the original on the spot.

11. Selection Process — How Merit is Calculated

There is no written exam or interview in this process — selection is entirely based on academic merit, shortlisted through the walk-in itself. Here’s exactly how your merit score is calculated:

  • 30% weightage — Marks secured in your Class-X (10th) examination
  • 70% weightage — Marks secured in your Degree / Diploma / ITI examination, as applicable to your category

This means your final qualifying marks matter far more than your 10th marks — so don’t worry too much if your Class-X percentage wasn’t great, as long as your ITI/Diploma/Degree marks are strong. Selection happens separately within each trade/discipline and category, depending on how many vacancies are open in that specific stream.

12. Important Dates

Last Date to Apply on Portal 20 October 2026
Walk-in Dates 27 October 2026 to 21 November 2026
