Under the Arunachal Pradesh Government notification No. AR-33/17/2026-SECT-1-AR/111 dated 26 August 2026, every candidate must:

  • Be able to speak any indigenous tribal language of Arunachal Pradesh and have working knowledge of the local indigenous tribes. A language test is held as per that notification.

One thing is not clear in the sources we could use: the vacancy table shows 26 “UR” (unreserved) seats next to 191 “APST” seats, but the eligibility rule says every candidate must hold an APST certificate. How the UR seats are filled is not explained there. Please check the official PDF, or call the APSSB help desk (Section 16), before you apply.

6. What the Vacancy Numbers Tell You

Group of Posts Vacancies Share of 217
Health posts (ANM, Lab Technician, Pharmacist, ECG Technician, Dental Technician, Health Assistant Jr.) 119 About 55%
Driver posts (Head Constable Driver, LMV, HMV, Constable MT Driver) 96 About 44%
Publicity posts (Field Publicity Assistant, Publicity Assistant) 2 About 1%

ANM alone has 61 posts (28% of everything), and Constable (MT) Driver has 55 posts across IRBn and Civil Police (31 + 24). The Pharmacist (1 post), Field Publicity Assistant (1) and Publicity Assistant (1) posts have just one seat each, so competition for them will be very high.

7. Educational Qualification — Post-Wise

Code Post Qualification and Other Conditions
25/26 ANM 2-year ANM certificate from an INC-recognised institution after Class 12; registered under APNC as RANM; must pass the Competency Test.

For post codes 31/26 to 35/26, your driving licence must be valid on the closing date of application, on the driving test date and on the document verification date. Check your licence expiry date today.

8. Age Limit and Age Relaxation (as on 5 November 2026)

Post Codes Minimum Age Maximum Age
25/26 to 30/26, 32/26, 33/26, 36/26, 37/26 18 years 35 years
31/26 (Head Constable Driver) 18 years 32 years
34/26 and 35/26 (Constable MT Driver) 18 years 22 years
Category Age Relaxation
APST Up to 5 years
PwBD Up to 15 years
In-service candidates (3 years’ continuous service in the same or allied cadre) 5 years, in addition to the normal relaxation
Ex-Servicemen Service period is deducted from actual age; eligible if the age left is not more than 3 years above the limit
ASHA (ANM post only) Up to 8 years

Quick example (our calculation): with the 5-year APST relaxation, the maximum age becomes 40 years for most posts, 37 years for Head Constable Driver and 27 years for Constable (MT) Driver. Since the Constable (MT) Driver age limit is low (22), check your date of birth early.

9. Application Fee, Documents and Photo/Signature Rules

11. Selection Process — What You Need to Clear, Post by Post

The written exam is the same for everyone. After it, the stages depend on your post. All later stages are qualifying only, and the final merit list is made only on written exam marks.
Post Stages to Clear
ANM (25/26) Written Exam + Competency Test
Laboratory Technician, Pharmacist, ECG Technician, Dental Technician, Health Assistant Jr., Field Publicity Assistant, Publicity Assistant Written Exam only
Driver LMV (32/26) and Driver HMV (33/26) Written Exam + Driving Test
Head Constable Driver (31/26) Written Exam + PST/PET + Driving Test + Medical Fitness Test
Constable MT Driver — IRBn (34/26) and Civil Police (35/26) Written Exam + PST/PET + Medical Fitness Test

After these stages comes document verification and the final merit list. Candidates are shortlisted in a 1 : 8 ratio for PST/PET and 1 : 3 for the driving test and the ANM competency test, provided they score 33% in each written paper.

12. Written Exam Pattern — 200 Marks

  • Objective-type multiple choice questions, 200 marks in total, 2 hours.
  • Common Paper (all candidates): 40 questions, 2.5 marks each, 1 hour.
  • Technical Paper (your post): 50 questions, 2 marks each, 1 hour.
  • No negative marking.
Paper I — Common Paper

Arithmetical Ability 10 2.5 25
Test of English Language and Comprehension 10 2.5 25
Total 40 — 100

3 27/26 Pharmacist (Allopathy)
4 28/26 ECG Technician

The syllabus for the Common Paper and the Technical Papers has been published separately by APSSB, as notices No. APSSB-13/9/2026/1437 and 1438 dated 8 October 2026, in the Syllabus section of the APSSB website. Download it and study from it. The sources we used do not say whether the two papers are held one after another, so confirm this on your admit card.

13. Qualifying Marks — And How Many Questions You Need

  • You need at least 33% in the Common Paper and at least 33% in the Technical Paper, separately, to move to the next stage. There is no sectional cut-off within the Common Paper.

Our simple calculation:

  • Common Paper: 33 marks ÷ 2.5 = 13.2, so you need at least 14 correct answers out of 40 (14 × 2.5 = 35 marks).
  • Technical Paper: 33 marks ÷ 2 = 16.5, so you need at least 17 correct answers out of 50 (17 × 2 = 34 marks).

These are only the minimum to stay in the race. Final merit depends on your total marks, and the cut-off for shortlisting will be higher. A strong score in the Technical Paper matters, because every correct answer there is worth 2 marks, and with no negative marking you should attempt every question.

14. PST, PET, Medical, Driving Test and ANM Competency Test

These tests are qualifying only. The standards below are given for male candidates for post codes 31/26, 34/26 and 35/26. The sources we used do not give standards for women, so check the official PDF if you are a woman applying for these posts.
Physical Standard (PST) Category Standard
Height APST (other than Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts) 160 cm

1500 m race 8 min 30 sec 8 min
High Jump (max 3 attempts) 107 cm 107 cm

Ex-Servicemen do not have to take the PET, but they must qualify the PST.

17. How to Use the Next 7 Weeks — Our Suggestion

When What to Do
Now to 20 October Read the notice. Confirm you hold the PRC and APST certificate. Choose your posts and departments in order. Check your licence validity (driver posts). Prepare photo and signature files in the right size. Download the syllabus.
21 to 31 October Apply on the portal as early as you can and keep the submitted copy. Do not wait for the last days.
Until 29 November Health and publicity posts: put more time into the Technical Paper (50 questions, 2 marks each) and the Common Paper basics. Driver posts: study Road Safety and Traffic Signages and the Common Paper.
Starting now (for Head Constable Driver and Constable MT Driver) Begin running and jumping practice for the PET (100 m in 16 seconds; 1500 m in 8:30 or 8:00; high jump 107 cm; long jump 11 feet). The PET is tentatively from 19 January 2027, so you have time to build fitness slowly.
ANM candidates Besides the written exam, practise the four competency stations (vital signs, maternal and child health, infection control, basic midwifery procedure).

This plan is our suggestion only. Follow the dates and rules in the official notice.
