1. Recruitment at a Glance |
| Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has released its Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification under the Apprentice Act, 1961. This is a one-year training opportunity for ITI, Diploma and Degree holders, with a total of 710 openings. Unlike a normal job, this process works differently — you apply on a government portal first, and then physically walk in with your documents on a fixed date. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
⚠ Two Separate Portals — Don’t Mix Them Up: Trade (ITI) candidates register on apprenticeshipindia.org, while Graduate/Diploma candidates register on nats.education.gov.in. Applying on the wrong portal for your qualification will not get you considered — check which one applies to you before you begin. |

2. Trade Apprentice (ITI) Vacancy — 516 Posts |
| Electrician and Fitter together make up almost one-third of all ITI vacancies, making them the two biggest openings this year. If you hold an ITI in either trade, your chances of finding a seat are comparatively higher simply due to volume. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3. Graduate & Diploma Apprentice Vacancy — 194 Posts |
| Engineering graduates and diploma holders have a wide spread of branches to choose from, and non-engineering candidates (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, Nursing and paramedical streams) are also included this year — so this is not an engineering-only opportunity. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

4. Who Can Apply — Eligibility Conditions |
This notification has some strict eligibility rules that are different from a normal job notice — read these carefully, since even a technically qualified candidate can get rejected if any one of these conditions is not met:
5. Age Limit (as on 31 October 2026) |
Reservation and age relaxation will be given as per the Government of Chhattisgarh guidelines. Since BSP is based in Chhattisgarh, state-level reservation rules apply here, which can be a little different from central government reservation norms — check the official PDF for your exact relaxation if you belong to a reserved category. |
6. Monthly Stipend |
For Graduate and Diploma Apprentices, this stipend is split 50-50: half is paid directly by Bhilai Steel Plant, and the other half comes from the Board of Practical Training (BOPT) through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) mode into your bank account. This is why your bank account must be DBT-enabled with completed KYC before you apply — otherwise your stipend payment can get delayed or blocked. |

9. Walk-in Schedule — Trade-Wise Dates |
| This is the most important table in this article. Your walk-in date depends entirely on your trade or branch — turning up on the wrong date could mean missing your chance altogether. All walk-ins are at the same venue and time. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Reporting Time (all dates): 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM |
⚠ Note the “Except” Dates Carefully: A few date ranges skip one day in between (for example, 01.11.2026 and 08.11.2026 are excluded). Mark your calendar carefully, since reporting on a skipped date by mistake could mean you miss your actual slot. |
10. Documents to Carry at the Walk-in |
Carrying originals along with self-attested photocopies is always a safe practice, even if only photocopies are formally asked for — officials may want to verify against the original on the spot. |
11. Selection Process — How Merit is Calculated |
There is no written exam or interview in this process — selection is entirely based on academic merit, shortlisted through the walk-in itself. Here’s exactly how your merit score is calculated:
This means your final qualifying marks matter far more than your 10th marks — so don’t worry too much if your Class-X percentage wasn’t great, as long as your ITI/Diploma/Degree marks are strong. Selection happens separately within each trade/discipline and category, depending on how many vacancies are open in that specific stream. |

12. Important Dates |
⚠ Important: Register online well before 20 October — since you also need time afterward to prepare your documents and travel arrangements for the walk-in, which starts just one week later on 27 October. Since joining intimation comes only through e-mail, check your inbox (and spam folder) regularly after your walk-in date. |
