1. Recruitment at a Glance

The Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) has announced 78 Technician Grade-II posts under Advertisement No. 83/UKSSSC/2026. The vacancies are spread across two power-sector organisations — Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Ltd (PTCUL) and Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (UJVNL) — making this a solid opportunity for ITI-qualified candidates with some hands-on work experience.

2. Post-Wise & Category-Wise Vacancy Breakup

PTCUL Electrical carries the largest share (37 posts) — if you hold an Electrician trade ITI, this is where your odds are strongest numerically.
Post Name Department Vacancies
Technician Grade-II (Electrical) PTCUL 37
Technician Grade-II (Mechanical) UJVNL 25
Technician Grade-II (Electrical) UJVNL 16
Total — 78
Post SC ST OBC EWS UR Total
Technician Gr-II (Elec.) – PTCUL 01 03 02 06 25 37
Technician Gr-II (Mech.) – UJVNL 05 02 03 02 13 25
Technician Gr-II (Elec.) – UJVNL 02 02 03 01 08 16

No posts are earmarked for the Divyang (PwD) horizontal category in any of these three posts — worth knowing upfront if you were specifically checking for that. Vacancy numbers may still increase or decrease as per government rules before the final process.

3. Horizontal Reservation Within These Posts

Post UK Women Ex-Servicemen Orphan Sportsperson State Agitator/Dependent
Technician Gr-II (Elec.) – PTCUL 09 01 01 01 02
Technician Gr-II (Mech.) – UJVNL 04 – – – 01
Technician Gr-II (Elec.) – UJVNL 02 – – – –

4. Eligibility — Qualification Post-Wise

Post Required Qualification
Technician Gr-II (Electrical) – PTCUL High School (10th) with Science & Maths, good knowledge of Devanagari script, NCVT/SCVT certificate in Electrician trade, + 2 years relevant work experience
Technician Gr-II (Electrical) – UJVNL High School with Science & Maths, NCVT/SCVT certificate in Electrician OR Electronics trade, + 2 years experience gained after the qualification
Technician Gr-II (Mechanical) – UJVNL High School with Science & Maths, NCVT/SCVT certificate in Fitter trade, + 2 years experience gained after the qualification

Notice the UJVNL Electrical post accepts BOTH Electrician and Electronics trade ITI holders — this is wider than the PTCUL Electrical post, which accepts Electrician trade only. If you hold an Electronics ITI, UJVNL is your only eligible Electrical option here, not PTCUL.

Your experience certificate can come from any government, semi-government, limited, private limited, or registered private company/firm — it doesn’t have to be a government job. All qualifications must be held by the last date of application.

5. Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026)

Candidates must be 18 to 42 years old — meaning born between 02 July 1984 and 01 July 2008. This is a notably wide age band (24 years), which gives experienced ITI candidates a real shot even if they’re not fresh pass-outs.
Category (Uttarakhand) Age Relaxation
SC / ST / OBC +5 years
Divyang (PwD) +10 years
Dependents of Freedom Fighters +5 years
Ex-Servicemen Military service deducted from actual age; result must not exceed upper limit by more than 3 years

6. Domicile & Employment Exchange Condition — Can Outsiders Apply?

Since this is a Group C post, you must meet at least ONE of these three conditions:

  • Registered at an employment exchange in Uttarakhand by the last date of application, OR
  • Hold an Uttarakhand domicile/permanent residence certificate, OR
  • Passed High School AND Intermediate (or equivalent) from a recognised institution in Uttarakhand

Candidates already working in Uttarakhand state government services don’t need employment exchange registration. Ex-servicemen registered with a District Sainik Kalyan office are also treated as registered.

This means candidates from outside Uttarakhand CAN apply if they satisfy any one of the three conditions above — but reservation benefits (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Women etc.) apply only to candidates genuinely domiciled in Uttarakhand, not to outsiders who merely registered at a Uttarakhand employment exchange.

7. Application Fee

Category Fee
Unreserved (UR) / Uttarakhand OBC ₹300
Uttarakhand SC / ST / EWS ₹150
Uttarakhand Divyang (PwD) ₹150
Orphan Nil

Pay online only — debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. If a payment fails for a technical reason, the amount will be refunded, so don’t panic and re-pay immediately; wait and check your application status first.

8. Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Selection rests on just one offline objective written exam, followed by document verification — there is no interview, no skill test, and no separate typing test for this recruitment.
Exam Feature Details
Exam Mode Offline (OMR Sheet)
Question Type Objective, multiple choice, 4 options
Total Marks 100
Duration 2 hours
Subjects Questions related to the post’s educational qualification (see Appendix-1 of the official notice for the full syllabus)
Negative Marking 1/4 mark of a question per wrong answer
Unanswered Question No negative marking

9. Minimum Qualifying Marks

Category Minimum Marks
UR / EWS / OBC 45%
SC / ST 35%

10. Key Exam-Day Rules You Must Know

  • Marking more than one answer for a question, or using whitener/cutting on the OMR sheet, counts as a wrong answer — be extra careful with your OMR filling.
  • You can take the question booklet and the third copy of your OMR sheet home with you — useful for matching against the official answer key later.
  • The answer key will be published on the website; raising an objection against it costs ₹50 per question.
  • If two candidates score equal marks, the older candidate ranks higher. If age is also equal, English alphabetical order of the name decides.
  • Post and department are allotted based on your merit rank AND the preference you give in the application form — so order your preferences carefully when applying.

11. How to Apply Online — Step by Step

  1. Registration: Register at sssc.uk.gov.in with your Aadhaar number (one Aadhaar can be used only once), your own mobile number and email ID. Note your registration number and password carefully.
  2. Educational & other details: Fill in your qualification, experience, category, and post/department preference.
  3. Upload photo & signature: Your photo is taken by live camera capture with face detection — not uploaded from your gallery. Upload your signature and left thumb impression, each exactly 150 × 100 px in JPG/JPEG format.
  4. Pay the fee: By debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI.
  5. Print the application: Your form is complete only when its Status shows “Completed.” Keep a printout for future use — don’t assume submission is complete just because you clicked submit.

12. Documents to Upload & Tips Before You Apply

Documents to Upload:

  • High School certificate (for verifying name and date of birth)
  • Aadhaar card, both sides
  • Category or sub-category certificate (for vertical and horizontal reservation)
  • Experience certificate (2 years)

Tips Before You Apply:

  • Your name, father’s name and date of birth must exactly match your High School certificate.
  • Submit only one application per post — multiple forms for the same post will all be cancelled.
  • During the correction window, you cannot change your name, parents’ names, age, or exam centre — so get these right the first time.
  • Don’t wait for the last day to apply — the website typically slows down under heavy load as the deadline approaches.

13. Reservation Rules — Overall Percentages

Type Category Share
Vertical SC 19%
Vertical ST 4%
Vertical OBC 14%
Vertical EWS 10%
Horizontal Uttarakhand Women 30%
Horizontal State Agitators / Dependents 10%
Horizontal Ex-Servicemen 5%
Horizontal Orphans 5%
Horizontal Divyang 4%
Horizontal Skilled Sportspersons 4%
Horizontal Dependents of Freedom Fighters 2%

Reservation benefits apply only to candidates domiciled in Uttarakhand and who claim them in the online form — merely registering at a Uttarakhand employment exchange does not make you eligible for reservation if you aren’t actually domiciled there. The EWS certificate must be issued between 01 April 2026 and 25 November 2026, based on 2025-26 income. An OBC certificate is valid for 3 years from issue and must still be valid on the last date of application. If a candidate qualifies for more than one sub-category, they get the benefit of only the most favourable one. Ex-servicemen who already secured a job using the ex-servicemen quota cannot use it again.

15. Salary & Job Nature

All three posts carry the same pay scale: ₹27,200 – ₹86,100 under Pay Level-4, plus allowances as per state rules. These posts are non-gazetted, permanent, and covered under the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) — a genuinely stable, long-term government-sector role in the power/energy field.
